2024 Dog Jog News
The 2024 Los Alamos Dog Jog was held on April 27 at Rover Park in White Rock. About 150 people and their poochies joined us for the 2-mile walk or 5K run. The weather was brisk and breezy but a good time was had by all. Every participant got a t-shirt with the 2024 Dog Jog logo designed by local student Ellen White and every dog had the chance to select a special toy at the finish line. We also had numerous prizes for the finishers and their special pups awarded at our post-race prize ceremony.
The top finisher was Whitney Spivey with her beautiful dog Wheeler - Wheeler is a alumna of the Los Alamos County Animal Shelter and is living her best life since Whitney adopted her. Other top runners included Luke Frash and and his dog Kaze, Andrew Miller with pup Nori and Brittney Mullins with her dog Shelby. Among the many post-race prizes, most enthusiastic winner Vizsla Holly easily beat out her competition.
Thanks to all of volunteers who spent countless hours helping to make this event come together and provide a fun time for all of our participants. A special thanks to Los Alamos Fire Brigade, who help us out every year, for coming out to monitor the course and take care of any minor injuries that might occur.
We were very happy this year to have several Girl Scouts participating who are working towards their Animal Care Badges. The girls walked rescue dogs Ricochet and Max, who had a fantastic time and soaked up all the attention. We also were happy to have an adoptable shelter dog Zoey, from the Espanola Valley Humane Society, join us - as you can see she really enjoyed the special toy that she received.
All of the proceeds from the Dog Jog go to benefit the Los Alamos Friends of Shelter and Companion Animals, and this is our most important annual fundraiser, bringing in about $15000 each year. We would like to thank all of our sponsors who made this possible for their generosity and their love of animals. Our top sponsors this year included two new sponsors, Christina Munoz from the Bank of Albuquerque and Miranda Miller with RE/MAX First, as well as returning sponsors, Ridgeview Veterinary Hospital, Ameriprise, Lorraine Hartway LLC, Lou Santoro State Farm, Blue Window Bistro and New Mexico Bank and Trust. We would also like to thank our other sponsors including The Running Hub, Rendija Dog Walks, Los Alamos Coop Market, Los Alamos Medical Center, and LA Dog House.
We want to send out a very special thank you to
Cyndi Wells and Pet Pangaea. Cyndi has supported
us every year, providing finish line toys for every dog
as well as gift cards and sponsor donations. Please
enjoy the pictures of the dogs enjoying their toys and
remember to support Pet Pangaea because it is a
great business to have in our town and because
they support local organizations like ours and enable
us to do our important work to help animals live happy
and healthy lives. Please remember to shop with
Pet Pangaea! You can call them at 505-661-1010 or

And, finally a big Thanks! to all of our participants,
dogs and humans, runners, walkers, strollers,
amblers, we appreciate you all!
