$7 Posse Shack

The Sheriff's Posse organizes a monthly cowboy breakfast. Six of the yearly breakfasts benefit the Sheriff's posse organization, while the proceeds from the other six benefit local non-profit organizations. The breakfasts take place on the 1st Sunday of every month.

Los Alamos Friends of Shelter and Companion Animals (FOSCA) will be hosting the July 7 Pancake Breakfast, courtesy of the Posse Lodge.  The breakfast will be served from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Posse Lodge on North Mesa.  The menu includes: scrambled eggs, pancakes, bacon and sausage, as well as orange juice and coffee.

To make this event even more of a “can’t miss” for you and your family, we will also be hosting a mobile pet adoption, a book donation event and fun door prizes!  We will have lovable adoptable pets on site from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. courtesy of our partners - the Espanola Valley Humane Society and New Mexico Rescue Resources (NMRR). NMRR is an organization that helps independent rescues run successful adoption events by working together.  Individual rescues often don't have the resources necessary to develop, mount and run adoption clinics, which is the threshold to new homes and new lives for rescued shelter pets, so NMRR provides the extra help needed to make it happen!

Wait, there’s more!  There will also be door prizes of unique pottery by local potters – there will be at least one winner every half hour, so everyone will have a chance to win!

Los Alamos Friends of Shelter and Companion Animals is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the welfare of homeless animals by promoting adoption and paying for medical care and spay/neutering of homeless animals in north central New Mexico.

Through the FOSCA veterinary assistance program, we will provide about $22,000 to help pay for veterinary care for homeless animals and pets whose owners cannot afford extensive treatment.  FOSCA pays for treatment of heartworm disease and parvovirus, surgery for removal of broken legs, dental treatments, and removal of cysts and tumors.  These life-saving treatments allow beloved pets to go home with their devoted owners.  In 2018, FOSCA “saved Christmas” for two families by providing funds to help pay for abscess removals on Slinky the dog and Miss M the cat.

FOSCA also provides funding to individuals and rescue groups to spay/neuter 500 cats and dogs each year, significantly contributing to the effort to reduce the population of unwanted pets in New Mexico. We are especially proud to be working with rescue groups in three northern New Mexico Pueblos and the Navajo Nation to reduce endemic pet overpopulation in those areas.

Come out and enjoy the fun, bring your unwanted books and a healthy appetite (and maybe a few doggie treats) and donate to several worthy causes while enjoying a delicious breakfast!

Our book donation event will collect books for “Used Books Need Homes Too”, a non-profit that rehomes unwanted books, CDs, and DVDs, and donates all proceeds to local non-profits, including Friends of Shelter and Companion Animals, Pajarito Environmental Education Center, and the African Library Project.
